I remember Prof. Elliot as one of the academic staff I had to check exam marks for when I first joined the department. He was so organized in his submission and even numbered the exam scripts for checking from 1 to 100 (can't remember how big the class really was but it was a big class) and best of all, he even printed the IMMS report in Matric Ascending order and labelled it for checking. That is not expected of him but he did it anyway...that's how thoughtful he was and he really empathised with the admin staff. He was remarkably witty and had a great sense of humour when he delivered the 25th anniversary speech...that was definitely the highlight of the event that night! He will be remembered fondly.
